Asian School Girls (2014)
Asian School Girls is the newest release from The Asylum directed by Lawrence Silverstein who previously helmed the 2011 parkour action movie Freerunner, he also produced films such as Dark Wolf, The Cell 2 and Bangkok Adrenaline. It stars Sam Aotaki (Alpha House, Halloween Hell), Catherine Hyein Kim (Double Line) ,Andray Johnson (Blade, Black Dynamite), Alan Pietruszewski (Zero Dark Thirty) and John C. Epperson (Horror Haiku, Death Factory).
Asian School Girls tells the story of four high-school friends Hannah, May, Vivian and Suzy who one day decide to get fake IDs and go to a new nightclub in town. At the club they meet two college guys Wes and Steve who invite the girls back to a party they're going to. When they get inside the apartment where the party is supposed to be they realize its' just a couple of creepy old men waiting for them so they panic and freak out but it seems that it's a trap that Wes and Steve set up for them after drugging their drinks back at the club. One by one the girls are brutally raped by them and they wake up the next day dumped at the side of the road.
They go to the police but they can't help much due to lack of evidence but when Suzy commits suicide the others decide to take matters into their own hands. They ask their shady friend Hector to get them some weapons and help teach them how to use them and to kill two birds with one stone they go and get jobs stripping at the club they heard Wes and Steve talking about with the hopes of meeting them there.
Eventually they do show up and the girls get a chance to jump them outside and tie them up somewhere for torture and interrogation. Things don't go quite according to plan but good guy cop Jack makes a deal with the three wannabe vigilantes to drop all charges against them if they help him catch the main guy in charge of the human trafficking ring.
Yet again another surprise from The Asylum and a break from the norm of their usual onslaught of natural disaster and mockbuster movies. Honestly I didn't even know this was made by The Asylum until it popped up in the credits so I was really surprised. I was also surprised that it turned out to be a rape/revenge film as the poster suggests that it's a rip-off of the crazy Japanese splatter flicks that have been coming out for the last few years, stuff like Machine Girl, Chanbara Striptease and Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl immediately comes to mind. Nevertheless, once I realised this wasn't the latest release from Sushi Typhoon I reset my mindframe, sat back and relaxed. Did I enjoy it? Kind of, but i'm a perv who's easily pleased. Sixteen year old boys or any grown man (or woman) with a fetish for Asian school girls is bound to get some pleasure out of this. It's not a good film by any means and anyone familiar with The Asylum's work will know what to expect when it comes to the quality of the script, acting and production value. Fans of the rape/revenge genre might be disappointed if they're expecting the next I Spit On Your Grave or They Call Her One Eye but the rape scene is fairly good (in a rapey kind of way) and will disturb those not familiar to the genre. The revenge, as in castration and throat slicing is ok. We get to see some good gore above the waste but unfortunately nothing below. I really wanted to see some balls getting chopped off. The acting was cheesy as fuck but ok for an Asylum flick I suppose and the girls were hot, especially tattooed chick Sam Aotaki. I did find the movie slightly unintentionally racist at times though, the fact that the girls go back to the club and other places searching for the guys who raped them without any kind of disguise, suggesting that all Asians look the same made me slightly uncomfortable, that kind of joke belongs in a Troma movie. Check out Asian School Girls soon if you have a fetish for them or if you're into cheesy rape/revenge flicks , or just wait a few weeks until it's on the Syfy Channel or you find it in the bargain bin at your local supermarket.
