GORECAST #36 WEEKLY ROUND UP
Hello guys and ghouls. Johnny from The Gorecast here. We thought you guys might like to know what is going to be on the up coming shows in advance instead of the big surprise every Sunday. We thought a weekly article letting you know the show line up and other gorecast news might be kind of cool.
Coming up this week on GORECAST #36 The Giz and Johnny Deadly are feeling in a light hearted mood and are covering a few of the choice comedy/horror TV shows that are out at the moment. Starting off with The Santa Clarita Diet. The Santa Clarita Diet is a horror/comedy created by Victor Fresco.
Premiering on Netflix in February of this year it had social media buzzing for weeks. Starring Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore. Married couple Sheila and Joel are real estate agents in Santa Clarita California. The couple's lives take a dark turn after Sheila goes through a transformation and becomes a zombie craving for human flesh. The single camera show was announced and that renewed the series for a second season, which will premiere in 2018.
Second on the line up is a lesser known show from what we can tell but is BLOODY hilarious. Stan Against evil aired October 31st on IFC. A New England town built on the site of massive witch burning is haunted by demons. Stanley Miller, the former sheriff, teams up with Evie, the new sheriff to defend the town.
Then finally a mid season recap of the new grind-house style horror Blood Drive. The show received a 13-episode direct-to-series order from Syfy on July 28, 2015. Received generally favourable reviews from critics, with a Metacritic rating of 64 out of 100 based on 12 reviews. The Show Stars Alan Ritchson and Christina Ochoa as the main protagonists in the story Blood Drive is set in the dystopian "distant future" of 1999, after the "The Great Fracking Quakes” have literally split the United States apart, with a giant ravine called "the Scar" being formed roughly along the route of the Mississippi River. A mega-corporation known as Heart Enterprises has formed. They exploit strange discoveries from the bottom of the Scar to become ubiquitous across American politics, society, and the economy. Meanwhile, as a result of environmental decline, water has become scarce and gasoline prohibitively expensive. Each episode is based on a different genre of 1970s/80s exploitation film such as cannibals, nymphomaniacs, or insane asylums.
