Jason Blum & Christina Wayne To Produce Haunted Hotel Drama For NBC

EXCLUSIVE: Top horror feature producerJason Blum(Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purgeand Sinister franchises) has teamed with TV executive-turned-producer Christina Wayne (Copper) for The Inn, a supernatural drama project set up at NBC. Written by Patrick Macmanus (Marco Polo) and produced by Universal TV Studios, The Inn is described as a classic ghost story that follows a group of strangers drawn to an isolated hotel by fate. Compelled to find the truth behind the horrors that haunt them and answer the question of why they were brought together, the ensemble soon discovers that The Inn is aware of their pasts and presents and is using them to force the guests to confront themselves and each other. Blum and Wayne will executive produce through their production companies, Blumhouse Prods. and Assembly Entertainment, along with their consultants on TV development, Gerard Bocaccio (Blumhouse) and Miura Kite (Assembly). Macmanus is co-executive producing.
The Inn was a pre-existing project and does not fall under the the pod dealWayne and her Assembly banner just signed with Endemol Studios. Assembly’s slate includes Koolhaus, a pilot for Amazon written by David Brendel, which revolves around art dealers who double as CIA, and MDX, an international medical disaster drama produced with Tony Krantz‘s Flame Ventures and written by Carol Flint. Former AMC senior development executive Wayne most recently served as president of Cineflix Studios, which produced the BBC America dramaCopper.
Blumhouse Prods., which dominates the marketplace of micro-budget genre movies for wide-release, has been ramping up its TV business in the past year, since entering the series space with the 2012 ABC horror drama The River. The company has close to 20 projects in development at various networks/digital outlets and studios. Blumhouse co-produces Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of Larry Kramer’s play The Normal Heart for HBO, and has thriller pilot Eye Candy at MTV starring Victoria Justice and directed by Catherine Hardwicke as well as a haunted house reality pilot at ABC with Warner Horizon. For SyFy, Blumhouse is developing Sojourn, about the first detective in space. Macmanus is repped by CAA, Evolution Entertainment, and Stephen Breimer; Wayne is repped by CAA and Bob Myman; Blumhouse is with CAA and John Diemer.
