“Don’t Look In the Basement” Remake “Death Ward 13” in Pre-Production

The cult-classic DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT is being re-imagined by horror director Todd Nunes and L.A.-based Bone Crusher Films. The new film, DEATH WARD 13 is currently in pre-production in Los Angeles. DEATH WARD 13 is inspired by S.F. Brownrigg’s DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT (1973) and Edgar Allen Poe’s short story “The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" (1845). DEATH WARD 13 promises to deliver a thrilling remake with a shocking collection of criminally insane patients: botched lobotomies, necrophilia, sexual deviance, and violent psychopaths.

DEATH WARD 13 will be directed by award-winning horror filmmaker Todd Nunes (ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE). “I’m a huge fan of the original DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT and saw the movie as a 10-year-old; I was mesmerised by the insane characters and the twist ending,” says Director, Todd Nunes. “In this re-imagined version I want to give fans a taste of the original with added practical effects and lots of bloody gore for modern audiences. DEATH WARD 13 will have more nurses, more maniacs, and more blood. We’re eager to shoot the film in an isolated mental hospital in the woods, to embody the iconic 70s grindhouse era.”

SYNOPSIS: It's 1973 and the Stephens Sanitarium for the Criminally Insane prepares to shut down permanently. Days before closing, four beautiful nursing students arrive to care for the last handful of “harmless" mental patients in a suspiciously understaffed ward. Confronted by their violent charges, the nurses soon realise that they are trapped inside the asylum with a deadly crew of vicious lunatics. Each patient has their own perverse identity, their own personal demons, and their own violent agenda. Pushed to the brink of insanity, the young nurses find themselves in a gruesome fight for survival inside Ward 13.
“DEATH WARD 13 will have a brutal climax with an updated, disturbing twist that shocks and satisfies both gore hounds and fans like me who love great storytelling,” says producer Stephen Readmond (ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE). “Since we’re taking liberties with DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT, we wanted to use one of the film’s alternative titles to show respect for one of my all-time favourite films of the genre.”

DEATH WARD 13 will begin shooting in late 2016/early 2017 with Nunes partnering again with producers Stephen Readmond and Christopher Stanley. The team’s Santa slasher ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE received 19 awards and nominations including the following wins:

•    Best Slasher (RIP Horror Film Festival)
•    Audience Choice Award (RIP Horror Film Festival)
•    Best Editing (RIP Horror Film Festival)
•    Best Director (Hardcore Horror Fest)
•    Best Actress – Jessica Cameron (Hardcore Horror Fest)
•    Best Local Feature (SFindie’s “Another Hole in the Head” Film Festival)
•    Best Supporting Actress – Melynda Kiring as Mrs. Garrett (GenreBlast Film Festival)

Rob Kazinsky will be Fox’s ‘Frankenstein’ Monster

Frankenstein has found its way to FOX!  Rob Kazinsky has landed the lead in a pilot for FOX, Frankenstein based on the Mary Shelly Classic. Rob you might know from his time on True Blood. The Pilot from Rand Ravich and Howard Gordon have adapted the classic of the monster brought back to life by the man who would play God.

Frankensterin centers it’s story on Ray Pritchard {Kazinsky}, a morally corrupt retired cop who is given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. This time more athletic, strong and handsome than before. This seems a little bit of a break from the tradition of the classic tale. The reanimated version of a much older Pritchard, a former Marine who was recently murdered. Pritchard’s body may be new, but his mind is still that of a 75-year-old, badass curmudgeon

Last month Adhir Kalyan was cast as one of Ray’s creators, the quiet and brilliant Internet billionaire Ottot Goodwin.

Repped by The Gersh Agency, Brillstein Entertainment, Creative Artists Management in the UK and Stone Meyer, Brit Kazinsky’s credits include Pacific Rim, True Bloodand the UK series EastEnders and Dream Team. He next will be seen in Hot Pursuit, starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, and the vidgame adaptationWarcraft.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan film "The Chicken Run"

Here's an interesting little treat, I've seen a shitload of horror fan films over the years, the more common being tributes to Halloween and Friday The 13th. I can't remember ever seeing any for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre however so this is nice for a change. I'm sure there's probably a few out there I could unearth if I went digging so this may just inspire to to go searching for more. I'm a massive fan of the original TCM and I like most of the other sequels, prequels and remakes, except for Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation - that was just fucking awful! Even Matthew McConaughey couldn't save that turd!

Check out this awesome fan film and lets hope the prequel 'Leatherface' that's currently being made is half as good.

Written, produced and directed by Gary Tunnicliffe, best known for his make-up effects on films such as BLADE, CANDYMAN, My Bloody Valentine 3D, SLEEPY HOLLOW, THE COLLECTOR, BENEATH, GONE GIRL and entries in the HALLOWEEN, HELLRAISER and SCREAM franchises, THE CHICKEN RUN was produced for Las Vegas’ FRIGHT RUN last summer and has never been commercially released. In the vein of Tobe Hooper’s original TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, Tunnicliffe teamed with producers Jason Egan and Vincent Palamino as well as Director of Photography Matt Renoir to emulate as much of the original film’s style as possible.

Starring Melanie Lastrina and Dave Mattey, and with SFX from Mike Regan and Dan Driscoll, you can check out THE CHICKEN RUN below. You can also learn more about the project at its official site here - http://texaschainsawmassacrefanfilm.weebly.com/

Resident Evil Renovation!

Thanks to Moviepilot.com for this:

Resident Evil was an amazing game( the first and fourth one at least anyways) and a mediocre Film franchise at best, And it is obviously a franchise Capcom wants to keep alive by any means possible!

The Original Resident Evil is up for renovation! Or at least our little Manor is anyway once again for next gen systems.

This is not the first time this has happened. Incarnations of this game now include the original, a directors cut, the Gamecube update, a wii port and possibly more.

The GameCube remake was a great leap adding a lot to the game, graphic and sound wise, but this new updated version seems like a good graphical update, but we shall have to see how it goes...

What are your thoughts? let us know in the comments below.

The game that defined the survival-horror genre is back! Thrill to all the original chills and spills in this remastered update of the classic Resident Evil game. Relive an enhanced version of the game that defined the survival-horror genre and launched a franchise that has sold over 61 million copies!

‘The Ring 3′ now has a Director!

From Deadline:

Director F. Javier Gutierrez has been tapped by Paramount to direct the the third entry of “The Ring” series. You may know the name as he is the one who is remaking “The Crow.”

There’s no word on who will be writing this third chapter or if it’ll be based on the most recent Japanese “Ring” sequels.

The original film was an American adaptation of a Japanese film and was directed by Gore Verbinski and starred Naomi Watts as a reporter investigating the mysterious origins of a videotape that would kill those that watched it.
