AUGUST UNDERGROUND MORDUM
For my first movie review for The Emerald Gore Society I’m going straight for the horns of the beast and I’m going to review the sickest of the sick the most fucked up of the fucked up and I’ll be honest, the movie that fucked my head up more than any other , August Underground Mordum .
This is the second movie of the trilogy, the other titles being August Underground and August Underground Penance, but Mordum is by far the best/worst of them. They were made by ToeTag pictures and Fred Vogal comes across as screenwriter, director and actor. I recommend you check them out; they have made some other great stuff, namely The Redsin Tower, but let’s leave that for another day.
In order of describing the movie, I can say that it is pretty much a found footage style snuff movie. If you ever wondered what a real snuff movie looks like, this is the movie for you. This is so realistic, that if a neighbor spotted you watching this while they were staring in your window (probably masturbating), they would call the police. No messing , the special FX in in this movie are amazing, so much so about 35 minutes into my first viewing, I had to Google it and make sure it was a movie .
The movie has no story and is made up of clips strung together in a heavily unedited style. It follows one main character with different accomplices throughout. It show them terrorizing random people in many different ways such as home invasions, murder , robbery , torture , vomiting on people , coprophilia , infanticide , rape , necrophilia, mutilation and I’m sure I’m missing a lot of others out . It also shows all these in graphic detail. I’ll tell you one thing though, and this is one of the tamer parts of it. There is a man and a women being held captive and being tortured. A woman who is torturing them cuts off the man dick and fucks the women with it and you see everything.
Now I want to be completely honest... I did not like this on first viewing; I must have stopped it 4-6 times, just to get a break from it. Once I got through it and left it simmer in my head for about a week, I went back and reviewed it, and although saying I liked it seems a bit warped, I would call it a masterpiece. I know a lot of people will and do hate it but this movie does just what it tries to, it puts you in the vilest place you could possibly imagine and disturbs your soul and you will never be the same after watching this. I would never recommend this; some people will not be able to take it. For me this movie is a must see and even though I know that it does not make much sense, it will once you watched it entirely.
